CWDC and Skills for Care Guidance
Skills for Care and the CWDC make it clear in their manager’s guides that there are two methods for assessing knowledge, questioning AND observation. The foundation of e-assessment is assessing knowledge using questions, producing an evidence portfolio to support that process and supporting the manager / supervisor to check that the knowledge is applied in practice.
Furthermore, CWDC and Skills for Care describe assessing knowledge as a critical part of the learning process and that the assessment process should be recorded for inspections and NVQ’s. Managers have a duty to ensure that "workers have sufficient knowledge and understanding to meet the needs of people who use services" and assessment against the standards is a method for ensuring Continuous Professional Competence.
All of our assessments support both managers and carer’s to comply with the guidance.

ALAEP © principle
Assess – Learn – Assess – Evidence Progress. The essence of what we do is support supervisors, supervising social workers, line managers and anyone responsible for workforce development to find out what people do and don’t know – quickly and easily.
Asking questions specifically related to a set of standards means the learning can be targeted to an individual’s needs. Further assessments over time enables each carer’s progress to be evidenced and critically, the success of the learning to be measured.
Designed to support
All of our assessments are designed to support existing workforce development processes, we do not replace or duplicate any of the programs already in place. Most of our customers use the assessments alongside existing e-learning programs and to support mentors and coaches.
